Edwin Butler Bayliss – The Artist

Edwin Butler Bayliss (1874-1950), the son of an iron manufacturer, created a series of paintings of the polluted Black Country landscape in Britain’s industrial period. His paintings featured factories with bellow chimneys, busy workers, and murky grey environments. Although there are no official documents that reveal him to any particular art institution, he shows his observation and caring of the environment through painting, which gives the opportunity for reflection for future generations.
